Is Split Produce Still Safe to Eat?

This is the question most gardeners really want answered — and the good news is that split produce is usually still fine to eat, with some caveats.

A tomato that has just cracked and shows no signs of mold, rot, or insect entry is perfectly edible — cut away the cracked area and the rest of the fruit is fine.
